1. What was your motivation for launching Westman Atelier?
Having been known for the skin enhancing style of makeup that I do, I honed in on skin and decided to begin with this complexion system. With this system, I can easily share my philosophy around elevating the skin while using this system that I use in my own routine while replacing the ingredients that I do not agree with and including active ones at efficacy levels.
2. What are your favorite WA products (if you can choose!)
That’s hard, because I rely on all of them! I would say, Skin Activator and Suprême C. Our Lip Suede Matte Lipstick, Vital Skincare Complexion Drops and Bonne Brow are my must-haves!
3. What other beauty brands do you currently enjoy (besides your own)?
I am obsessed with skincare and hair products – I love Crown Affair, Christophe Robin, David Mallett and Vegamour. I am a big fan of devices; the Time Master Pro from Korea is always on me!
4. What's your skincare routine like at the moment?
It always begins with cold water, Skin Activator and Suprême C. Then, Vital Skincare Complexion Drops or Vital Stick Foundation (or both, depending on the quality of my skin). I like to be warmer, so I then use either Liquid Super Loaded, Super Loaded or Beauty Butter Bronzer depending on the humidity. I also love using Face Trace in Truffle to warm up my skin, especially this time of year where I like to fake having a sun kissed appearance. I always add a pop of color with Baby Cheeks, then I do my eyebrows and incorporate our Lip Suede Matte Lipstick in either Je Reve or Pique for every day.
5. What is the Westman Atelier definition of sustainable beauty?
We consciously craft all of our products with a design that can last forever and formulated with safe, but potent ingredients. Based on my upbringing, I have always believed high performance products, clean ingredients and sustainable practices are not mutually exclusive. We challenge our labs and vendors to source eco-friendly options - whether it is refills like our skincare portfolio, or a sustainable option like recycled sugar cane in our Vital Skincare Complexion Drops. All of our secondary packaging is recyclable. Our cartons are made with Invercote board which has one of the lowest carbon footprints of any paperboard available. We know our work to be sustainable is never complete and are dedicated to reducing our environmental footprint.
6. How do you see the beauty industry changing in the next 5 years to be more sustainable?
It will require a lot of joined forces and effort on everyone’s path.
7. Do you have any more sustainability missions that you will be implementing at Westman Atelier?
We are always pushing our development team to concept the most sustainable and recyclable primary and secondary packaging. We work closely with Pact Collective to ease the process of recycling finished products. We also focus on our freight impact by shipping via the ocean to reduce our air shipments significantly.
Our charitable foundations that we support focus on impacting the environment. Last year, we launched our Squeaky Clean Duo and the proceeds to Bee Girl Organization—a grassroots non-profit based in Oregon that’s dedicated to bolstering our country’s vital bee habitats.

8. Do you have a special beauty tip to share with our customers?
I always believed in emphasizing the skin and then you can have more freedom to play more.
